People often wonder whether to buy newborn or 0-3 month size. It is a tricky question. It depends on the size of the baby. Some smaller babies will fit into newborn size for months, others last a week. My boys were long and slim and both fit into newborn for 7 weeks (with cloth napppies).
Another consideration is what type of nappies baby will wear. Cloth nappies are much bulkier than disposable nappies so clothes do not fit for as long. That is where brands such as Frugi and Little Green Radicals are great, they design their baby clothes so that they fit both styles of nappies - and look great!
When buying for your own baby it is nice to have a few newborn basics and special outfits so that bub can look gorgeous on that all important trip home from the hospital, outings, for special visitors and photos. The rest of the time it really doesn't matter if they look swamped in a 0-3 month outfit. If your baby is on the petite size it may well be worth investing in a larger number of newborn pieces.
When buying a gift I think that it is usually safest to choose 0-3 months. The lucky recipient will get more wear out of them and even if too large at first, bub will soon grow into them.
It is worth remembering that Frugi clothes are generally cut fairly large and tend to last beyond the sizing on the label.
As our clothes wash so well and are such fantastic quality, you actually need to buy less. However if you do end up with too many (lucky you!) their quality means that they will last through the whole family and beyond for many, many wears.
Finally, look for the special features of our Frugi and Little Green Radicals ranges. Many of their clothes have design features that extend the life of the clothing piece - such as reversibility, roll up legs and growsuits that become rompers.
